Ask Me Again: Dealing with PTSD in a Heartfelt Love Story

I was finally brave enough to read Ask Me Again, book 2 in the Ask, Tell series. And it was definitely worth it! Wow, what an emotional rollercoaster this was 😨. It deals with PTSD in the aftermath of ‘The Incident’ in Ask, Tell.

In Ask Me Again Sabine travels home after her deployment. Home to Rebecca and their home together. But there’s something wrong with Sabine. Instead of hurrying home she procrastinates. In fact she didn’t even tell Rebecca she was arriving today. It becomes clear that Sabine’s PTSD is nowhere near from being under control. But Sabine is determined to beat this thing that messes with her head On her own.

Rebecca is confused about Sabine’s erratic behavior. And even more so when Sabine won’t include Rebecca in what’s going on with her. It makes it hard for Rebecca to help Sabine but she doesn’t give up, not on their relationship nor Sabine.

Phew. I don’t know. I think Rebecca is some kind of saint for standing by the stubborn Sabine. But because the story is being told from the perspective of both Rebecca and Sabine, you get a good look inside of their heads. E.J. Noyes did so good with this one. She gives a good perspective on what it’s like to live with PTSD. The way she describes the love between these two is amazing, so strong and beautiful ❤️.
